讲座内容简介:
In this study, a multi-resolution modeling approach was proposed to evaluate the impacts of Automated Vehicles (AVs) in a regional network. The approach involves the use of microsimulation to evaluate capacity improvement for different roadway facility types under different AV market penetration rates and the use of macroscopic travel demand model for regional network performance evaluation. The integrated car-following and car-control model is composed of a car control model to control AVs and a car-following model from a selected microsimulation software, Paramics, to model human drivers. A Capacity Adjustment Factor (CAF), or AV flow discount factor, was introduced to connect the qualitative analysis of AVs using microsimulation results with the macroscopic-level evaluation of the impacts of AVs in regional transportation networks. The approach only requires amendment to traffic assignment, by treating AVs as a separate class of vehicles, and applying CAFs to discount AV flows in travel impedance calculation during traffic assignment. The AV modeling approach was developed and experimented using some simple networks and examples. Some preliminary results will be shared during the presentation.
